Seton’s varsity boys basketball team also scored big on Friday night against Highland to clinch the regular season title. Watch the exciting buzzer- beating shot to win the game. (Tim Vander Woude inbounds to Peter Mooney who quickly passes it to Patrick Stevens under the bucket to score at the buzzer. Then pandemonium. Seton 44. Highland 42. Game over.)
The boys have a bye in the first round of the tournament and play the winner of the FCS/RMA game on FRIDAY at Highland at 5:00. OurSeton will post details.

Our Seton wants to congratulate Peter LaVigne ‘06 for a PERFECT score on the GRE* this year! Particularly impressive is the Verbal score as only 2% of college graduates taking the test earn a score as high as 720 (out of 800). Peter credits Mrs. Carroll’s summer school writing class as one of the keys to his success. Peter also received a perfect score on the SAT when he graduated from Seton in ‘06.
He is graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and plans to earn a Masters degree.
(*FYI –The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a test required by most graduate schools. It is like the SAT for college graduates in that it has Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing sections and is a factor used to determine an applicant’s ability to do graduate level work. )

The DC snow has foiled many basketball games and swim meets. Stay tuned for the post-snow updated sports schedule. However, here’s some links for sports fans:
- Seton’s boys basketball team is ranked 7th in the state in the most recent poll.
- Seton swimmer, Jameson Hill, made headlines in the Arlington Herald for his showing in the Catholic National Championships. (Note: scroll to photo 2 to see a shot of Jameson and teammates).

The big sports weekend (Feb. 5/6) for the varsity boys basketball team and for the swim team got cancelled due to the snow. 🙁 So REMARK your calendars for FEBRUARY 19th and 20th.
On Friday, the 19th, the Varsity Boys travel to HIGHLAND in Warrenton to determine who holds first place in the DAC. Due to snow cancellation, our home game against Highland was cancelled. So the deciding game will be played on Highland’s court. Plan to make this 7 pm game! (The girls also play at 5:30 pm and the JVB play at 4:00).
The swim team also has big meets upcoming. The DAC CHAMPIONSHIPS are at Fredericksburg Academy this Saturday… and then…. drumroll…. Seton hosts the STATE Championships at the Freedom Center on the 20th. Check out the swim team website for more information: www.setonswimming.org
