SeaPerch = SetonPerched Above the Rest
I think that all sports teams, all drama performances and all academic accomplishments have to take a back seat to Seton’s SeaPerch teams.
SeaPerch is a water robotic competition that begins locally and goes national. At the local competition Seton teams were part of 85 squads that sought to earn one of the two invitations to the national competition in Indianapolis in May.
Two of Seton’s teams tied for first. They won 28 of 31 medals awarded. The third place team was composed of two students from Seton, one from Holy Family and a home schooled student.
Many of the Setonites going on to Indianapolis have alumni siblings. The national competitors include Patrick Koehr, Charlie Corcoran, John Bartolozzi, James Hurst, James Mosimann, Jim Harbour and Alex Gano. John Harbour and Ryan Orr are alternates from the 3rd place team.
In addition to working the robots through various maneuvers in a swimming pool, the teams had to write a paper and make presentations including an explanation of their logo design.
Mr. Hoffman and Mr. Maher have directed the teams over the past several years.
Congratulations to the teams, and we’ll be waiting to see how you do on the national stage.
Jezu, ufam Tobie.
